Kristin Brudevold
Nepal Arts, Tibet Cultural, and Himalayan Studies Semester Instructor
B.A. Religious Studies focusing on Tibetan Buddhism, Naropa University, Boulder, Colorado. Kristin has felt the nomadic and creative winds blow through her from a young age: from yearly trips to visit relatives in Norway to the aesthetic and practical construction of forts in every nook of the forest behind her house, she seeks profound adventures whenever possible. Kristin's rugged travel began as a student on two Dragons' Tibetan programs, and the winds have since been blowing with ever increasing vigor. Upon graduating from university, Kristin departed for Asia to further her studies of Buddhism and to get lost in the mountains, and has made the spacious plateaus of the Himalayas and forested hills of Southeast Asia her home for the past 4 years since. She has been involved in development projects in Thailand, has apprenticed under a master Tibetan thangka painter in Kathmandu, and is working on developing environmental education programs in Ladakh, North India and Nepal. On a more personal level, Kristin approaches life as a dynamic pilgrimage, trying to hold the incredible beauty of nature and humanity along with the equally compelling cosmic chaos that inspires the creative soul. Cultivating qualities of ahimsa (non-violence), self reliance, authenticity, and unconditional compassion are her daily practices, and something she feels passionate about sharing with her students. Kristin also enjoys mountaineering, swimming in freezing alpine lakes, yoga, writing, photography, building boats, and studying eastern and western healing arts. She completed a 200-hour Sivananda Yoga teacher training (Yoga Alliance recognized), and is a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (WEMT certified).
