Access & Engagement
Dragons programming realizes optimal cross-cultural learning outcomes by focusing on access and engagement.
Carefully cultivated in-country assets, a guide community of over 1,000 field instructors, and years of building relationships with academics, development professionals and community leaders ensure that Educator participants experience the country through non-contrived, authentic, and deeply illuminating access-points. Participants on Dragons’ Educator courses live with welcoming families and participate in the lives of communities as though they were locals. Each day, we interface with accomplished educators, artists, development professionals and community leaders.
Employing the same nine program components that we utilize with our student programming, we engage in place through nine different entry points. By combining home-stays, learning-service elements, an academic inspection of place, and meetings with change-agents, among other experiences, we evince the greatest learnings of place. A curriculum that combines the best in didactic learning with innovative techniques in experiential education ensures a comprehensive learning experience. And under the deft mentorship of our most experienced guides, we use the medium of radical difference to reflect on our own life experiences while we come to define for ourselves what it means to be a global citizen.
