Soel Winarno

Soel was born and raised in the cultural region of Yogyakarta, a land that taught him a deep respect for diverse life-ways, cultural heritage and important connections between past and present. After a stint in Jakarta, where he studied  English Education at Sanat Dharma University, Soel began his career as an experiential and outdoor educator, working with Outward Bound to lead sea kayaking courses in both Indonesia and the U.S. Soel has received trainings in student group management, wilderness medicine, rock climbing, sea kayaking, student behavior management, rock climbing and ropes courses and is wilderness first responder certified with WMI. For the past eight years, he has worked with myriad educational organizations, including JUMP!, the Odyssey Institute and Pancawati Outdoor Training. Soel also serves on the Advisory Board for Asosiasi Experiential Learning Indonesia and is an Assessor of Competency on Experiential Learning Facilitation for Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi in Jakarta. Soel is first and foremost a dedicated family man and adventuresome explorer who is excited to help students deepen their connection to self and to this marvelous and mystical planet.
