Amber Keith
BA Global & International Studies, Simon Fraser University
Amber was born nestled in between mountain and ocean on the BC coast but grew up with a call to adventure. Her journey into experiential education began while completing a BA in International & Environmental Studies, during which she was able to take part in a 6-month youth program that took her across Canada to learn about environmental stewardship and community living first hand in remote and indigenous communities close to home.
From that point on, Amber went on to work and live in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Central America among other places, diving deep into the local customs and indigenous ways of being while working for a host of non-profits involved in refugee resettling, conservation, and international education. Feeling there was something missing, she eventually found her place in nature-based and outdoor education, with a special passion for rites of passage and mental health work. Most recently, Amber also completed an herbal medicine apprenticeship with one of North America’s most renowned medical herbalists and is also an Advanced Open Water Diver, Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher, and Wilderness First Responder. Currently Amber is deeply engaged in studying eco-psychology and is continually exploring the questions of what it means to live in community and how we find our place in the world.
Now based in Tofino, BC, in her spare time you can probably find Amber out surfing the waves, wildcrafting, hiking up a nearby mountain, or learning to free-dive in chilly waters.
