Martina Mo
B.A. in Statistics, Hongkong Baptist University
Martina was born and raised in a rural area of Chongqing, Southwest China, and harbors a deep love for rural life and nature. She is passionate about educational equity and sustainable development. Despite earning a degree in Statistics from Hong Kong Baptist University, her career path has been firmly rooted in education. Her passion for teaching was ignited by a personal experience: her unsuccessful attempt to help her cousin return to school.
After graduating, Martina joined Teach for China and spent two years teaching English and Mathematics in a rural school in Chaozhou, Guangdong. She also initiated various interest classes like Ukulele, African Drum, and Recitation, actively innovating in education to bridge the urban-rural educational divide.
Post-Teach for China, Martina continued her journey in education, working with internet education companies and several international schools in Shenzhen. In 2022, she moved to Dali and began focusing on natural education and sustainable development. She actively participated in and led projects such as the Clean Water initiative and explorations of sustainable farming in Dali. Additionally, she launched the “”Miaotian Plan,” a summer camp on sustainable development topics in rural schools, aiming for a long-term impact.
Martina’s interests are diverse. She explores natural living, such as using kitchen waste for composting and growing plants without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Since 2023, she has been hosting two podcasts, “”December”” and “”Life Took A Turn,”” focusing on multifaceted lifestyles. Currently, she plans to continue her path as an educator, hoping that studying in Europe will broaden her educational horizon and further contribute to educational equity in rural Chinese schools.”
