Simon Hart
B.A. with Honors in Sociology/Anthropology, distinction in major, concentrations in Latin American Studies and Environmental Studies, Carleton College, Northfield, MN.
Simon’s pathway to global and experiential education was fostered by challenging and adventuresome experiences in both cross-cultural and wilderness environments during his formative years. This lead him to career in educational activism, advocating for young people to have access to authentic immersion in the world beyond their homes. After attending high schools in Mexico and Taiwan, Simon pursued studies in anthropology and development, garnering scholarships and grants to explore human-nature relationships and community-based strategies for conservation and development in Africa and Latin America. Simon is an alumnus of SIT, and has worked with Concordia Language Villages, The Center for Global Education and Carleton College to develop international experiential programming, professional trainings, and innovative curriculum over the past fifteen years. At Dragons he has served in diverse roles, from instructing courses in Latin America to serving as Executive Program Director. Most recently, Simon’s work is focused on providing professional development and support to educational institutions pursuing global education program initiatives. Based in Boulder, Colorado, Simon is a husband and father to two teenage girls. He is an avid cyclist, bass player, farmer, and builder. Simon speaks Spanish, Portuguese and French, is WFR certified, and has worked with Dragons since 2006.
