Program Overview

An inter-cultural experiential education seminar for global studies teachers


Educators from diverse disciplines are welcome to join us as we explore issues of climate change in the anthropocene, intercultural human ecology, and sustainable development from indigenous perspectives. Teachers who join us in Bolivia gain real world exposure to these contemporary issues, while also developing teaching tools to effectively address these issues in the classroom. In the context of the Central Andes, a region that has been inhabited by complex societies for thousands of years, Dragons’ educators engage in a fascinating exploration of how a country like Bolivia and its 36 different ethnic groups are responding to dramatic change. Activities include visits to local NGOs, talks with prominent communal sages and scholar, and climate change activists, as well as rugged travel to remote communities currently grappling with the effects of rapid environmental change.
