Alena Klimas

Alena Klimas is an instructor for Dragons programs in Morocco. She holds a Master’s in Community Development Policy from the University of New Hampshire where she completed a project based thesis on nonprofit management and philanthropic ecosystem. Klimas has a Bachelor’s Global Studies and a certificate in Islamic Studies from Ohio University. She has completed several US Department of State Arabic learning programs including Critical Language Scholarship in Meknes, Morocco. She then went on to complete Peace Corps service as a Youth Development specialist in the High Atlas Mountains. She worked in schools and community associations on development projects with an emphasis to advance girls’ education, health, and access to sports. Since her Peace Corps service, Klimas continued to work in Morocco with the High Atlas Foundation, USAID exchanges, and on grant projects with social enterprises. Outside of the direct work, Klimas enjoyed learning about (and eating) tasty Moroccan cuisines, hiking trips in the mountains, and visiting religious and historical sites to understand Moroccan culture on a deeper level.
