Mony Pech

Cambodia Instructor

My name is Mony. I am from Battambang, Cambodia. I was born in 1989 and grew up in a family who lived in the rural area of Battambang. I grew up in a community that didn’t value education so much so most people didn’t go to school. It was so difficult to stay in school at that time but I still tried to find a way. I wanted to prove that education was important for young people in the future. To pursue my dream, I left my community to live in a monastery in Battambang city for a few years until I finished high school in 2008. In 2009, I received a scholarship from Buddhist University of Battambang to study for a bachelor degree. I finished my Khmer literature bachelor degree in 2013.

After finishing my degree, I got to work for a social enterprise tour operator in Battambang as the training program leader, supporting university students to develop important soft skills to fill the gap of employment after graduation. I have been working in tourism for many years regarding development, sustainability issues in Cambodia. I am passionate about history and Buddhism. I love to share the history and culture of Cambodia to whoever he meets. I like sharing and supporting people to gain knowledge and understanding throughout the experiential learning.

Today, I work as a Tour Guide in Siem Reap. I love my job as a Guide so much because I represent Cambodia, which allows me to support travelers to understand about my country, culture, history, local life and stories to the world.
