Oscar Platt
B.A in Architecture and Environmental Studies, Princeton University
Born and raised in Brooklyn in New York City, Oscar has always had an appetite for the outdoors, travel, and experiential education. Oscar grew up attending the Wild Earth Wilderness School in the Hudson Valley where he initially fostered a love for nature. During high school, Oscar spent a semester at The Island School on Eleuthera, Bahamas, where he was first introduced to the experiential education model. After graduating high school, Oscar embarked on Dragon’s Princeton Bridge Year Program in Indonesia where he spent 10 months living in a homestay, volunteering with a community partner, and learning Bahasa Indonesia. Oscar left this year certain that he would return to Indonesia.
While in college, Oscar worked for the Bridge Year Program as a peer advisor and admissions ambassador, and continued to learn Bahasa Indonesia as part of the US State Department’s Critical Language Scholarship. He returned to Indonesia in 2023 as Streicker International Fellow to work at an architecture firm in Yogyakarta, and again in 2024 to conduct research on bamboo architecture in Java and Bali.
When he isn’t working or studying, Oscar can often be found biking around the city(it is his favorite method of transportation), reading outside, singing (poorly) to himself, or drawing and water coloring. He loves to scuba dive, ski, hike, surf, listen to live music, and play Frisbee.
Oscar is thrilled to be working as a Dragons instructor in Indonesia, and is eager to explore the country with new students, just as he did on his gap year.
