Thavry was born into a farming family. She grew up on one of the remote islands in the Bassac River called Koh Ksach Tunlea. She has 2 brothers. When she was younger, she always enjoyed drawing and writing. Her childhood dreams of becoming an artist and a writer and traveling around the world have kept her excited throughout the years. Thavry lives her dreams!

Thavry’s family values education very much, which has always given her a reason to study harder. She graduated from high school in 2007 and continued her university studies in Phnom Penh until 2009, when she received a scholarship to study in the Czech Republic and earned her Bachelor’s degree. It was at that time when she started to dream of travelling around the world. She has visited many countries in Europe and Asia, and the United States of America.

Thavry believes that women can do anything they set their minds to. She believes that writing is a way to share with and educate people. Her dream of being an author came true in 2009 when her very first children’s book was published. She is now the author of “A Proper Woman,” and 6 other titles, she speaks as an inspirational speaker throughout the world and is the co-founder of Seavphovjevith, a publishing house that promotes local language literature. She is also a promoter of Toursanak Adventures, a responsible educational travel company that offers experiences in Cambodia. When she is not running tours or working on projects, Thavry can be found painting, blogging and cycling to explore her beautiful Cambodia.
